How to Stay Physical & Sexy on your Honeymoon
Your better half can make a great workout partner.

While I was traveling last week, I had the pleasure of sitting next to a newly married couple on their honeymoon. We started talking, and I learned that they were concerned about staying in shape during the trip. The groom's parents had booked them on a seven-day island getaway. They told me that there wasn't a gym on the island and they didn't want to lose the muscle or shape that they had achieved to look good for their wedding photos. I answered their problem as follows:

"Since you're going to be on an island, there will be plenty of ways you can burn calories and have fun doing it. A gym is good but when you're on an island, outdoors is where you want to be. How about taking a walk together on the beach? This would be a great workout. Have you ever walked in the sand? It adds some excellent resistance to legs and butt. Plus you can be together, work on your tan and enjoy the island. Roller blading is also a good activity. I always take my blades when I travel. My fiancée and I roller blade for hours and have a great time doing it. You don't realize you're burning calories because you're having so much fun."

"The most obvious activity you both can do is swim. Swimming is an ideal work. I'm sure your hotel will have a pool, but if you want to really push it, swim in the ocean. Boogie board and play water sports together. After all it's your honeymoon, so you want to be together. Sex and more sex is the best way possible to build up a sweat. If you're concerned about doing some sort of resistance workout, you can do pushups, situps and isometrics together on the beach. Where there's a will, there's a way."

"Your diet while on your honeymoon will make or break your conditioning. I tell people all the time that eating correctly while traveling so easy-especially on an island. I suggest you stay away from high fat dishes and mega-desserts. Eat fresh seafood, chicken and vegetables. The islands have the best fish, so what's wrong with having swordfish, shrimp with potato and vegetables and a nice glass of wine? Eat light and drink a lot of water to stay hydrated. You don't want to pig out, then put on your bathing suit. Eat smart. If you stay active as I recommend and eat light, you'll wind up in better shape when you leave, plus you have a memorable vacation."

I also told the couple that having a workout partner is a big help when you are trying to achieve your fitness goals. Since they are on the island together, they will be staying in shape together, but what about at home? There are many positive aspects to having a workout partner. Here are five benefits of training together:

1. Safety - If you have a partner, he/she can watch over your workout, make sure you are using proper form and spot you during those heavy sets.

2. Time - When you set up a time to be at the gym, you know your partner's waiting and expecting you to be there. If you trained on your own you might find an excuse not to show up.

3. Motivation - When you train together you motivate each other to be the best you can during that session. A little motivation goes a long way, especially on days when you don't feel like training.

4. Fun - Having a partner makes your workout more enjoyable. You can joke around, talk about your day and this staves off the boredom of the workout.

5. Competition - A little competition between you and your partner will occur, we're only human. It may be who can bench press the most or who can run the fastest. Whatever it may be competition is great inspiration to give 100%.

Summary

I think everybody should have a partner. I have made my best gains and reach my goals faster when I had a consistent partner. I told the newlyweds that if your workout partner is your better half it is even more effective. When you choose as a couple to get in shape together it increases the odds that your goals will be reached. Think about it, nutrition, training and sleep are all done together. Both of you know what the other is going through. Imagine if your wife's diet consisted of pizza and beer. It would be very hard for you to stay on your diet. Also, training together can spark your sex life. Watching your partner in all of those new positions sweating and groaning can definitely spice up the bedroom workouts. So get to the gym!
